About Our Church
We are one church with two congregations, loving Jesus and each other in both English and Spanish.

A New Name For Our Historic Church!
Names are important. They’re how others know us and they tell a story about who we are. And earlier this year our historic Santa Maria Foursquare Church voted to choose a new name to better reflect who God has called us to be.
Our new name does NOT mean we’re leaving our roots or our Foursquare tribe. We’re still the same church we’ve been — but with an updated name for our future.
The name we chose for our future is Vida Church.
Vida Church is a dual-language, Spanish-English name that represents who we are. Here are several reasons we chose this new name:
- It Reflects Our Identity: As one church serving in both English and Spanish, this dual-language name captures who God has called us to be.
- It Speaks to Our Community: With 80% of our immediate neighbors speaking Spanish in their homes, this name helps to bridge cultural gaps.
- It Represents the Culture of God’s Kingdom: By blending languages, we’re reminded that even though we’re diverse, we are UNITED by Jesus.
- It Carries Spiritual Significance: “Vida” means “life” in Spanish, so every time we say our church name, we are declaring the transformative power of Jesus, who is “the way, the truth and the life,” and came so we “may have life and have it abundantly” (John 14:6 & 10:10)
One Church.
Two Congregations.
Being one church with two congregations (English and Spanish) is a unique and beautiful way to live life and do ministry. We believe this shows real hope to the people of Santa Maria: when Jesus is at the center, it's possible to be both diverse and united!

Jesus prayed this for His followers:
"May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me" (John 17:23).
We are working at being an answer to Jesus' prayer!

Learn MoreWhat We Believe
You’ll discover we consistently emphasize these essentials:
The Bible
We believe the Bible, God’s Word for all people, was inspired by God Himself, therefore is completely trustworthy and is without error in all it affirms. It is the primary means for discovering God, His plan for the world, how we’re to live in relationship with others, and how to navigate the challenges of our complex world. (Romans 3:22-24, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-5; 1 John 1:8-10)
One God
We believe God exists forever in perfect community as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19, John 10:30, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Peter 1:2)
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is God’s Son and is fully God and fully man. He is the perfect reflection of God’s character and glory. He lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross as the only perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people. He rose physically from the dead and returned to heaven, but will return again to reign forever with those who are His. All who put their trust in Jesus are forgiven and graciously given right relationship with God forever. (John 1:14, 3:16-17; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10; Colossians 1:15-17)
The Holy Spirit
We believe Jesus sent His Holy Spirit to empower His people so that we might live fully for Him and share His good news with power and passion. (John 14:16-17, 16:13; Acts 1:8; Romans 12:6-8; Galatians 5:22-23, 5:25)
Sin
We believe all people are created in the image of God, but each one has sinned and has broken our relationship with Him. Because of our sin, we are all in need of God’s salvation so that we can have a restored relationship with Him. (Romans 3:22-24, 5:12, 6:23; Ephesians 2:1-5; 1 John 1:8-10)
Salvation
We believe God freely offers His gift of salvation to all people. He promises to remove all sin from those who trust in Him, not because we deserve it or could ever earn it, but because of His great grace and love for us. This gift of God is received by trusting in Jesus Christ alone. Those who believe in Him are made right with God and given eternal life. (John 3:16-17, 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6)
